WOO HA
"Marlena Shaw noticed it’s Show Time, and right she is. Welcome to Saturday Tea Time on Ellensburg Community Radio. I am your radio bloke Paul Dunn and I will be playing you weird and wonderful music for the next two hours. After Miss Shaw and with a little help from Edwin Starr, it was the Utah Saints stating their love of Funky Music, and you know I like the sound of Funky Music and to prove it here is Curtis Mayfield with Superfly.”
“Eye Know, it must be the Daisy Age, well according to De La Soul. Now to the original 45 single I bought way back in 94, here is Loser Beck.”
“From the current South East England Medway scene, that was The Len Price 3 suffering a Heavy Atmosphere. Can you do a reggae version of Johnny B. Goode? Let’s find out with solo Wailer Peter Tosh.”
“From Johnny B. Goode to Johnny Too Bad by The Slickers. Did you see what I did there? Now, if you went to the cinema in England, those local adverts like “The Taste of India just 5 minutes from this very theatre” were presented by the company Pearl and Dean which had a fantastic theme tune which Goldbug sampled for their version of Whole Lotta Love.”
9. Goldbug - Whole Lotta Love (Radio Version) (3:48) WOO #5 10. Asha Bhosle & Kishore Kumar - Sachha Pyar To Jhuk (4:19) HA #5
“From an album entitled Kings and Queens of Bollywood, that I bought on the way to see a soccer match, that was Asha Bhosle & Kishore Kumar with Sachha Pyar To Jhuk. As you might not have noticed, it’s the Soccer World Cup and each week I’m playing you an English football song. This week it’s Fat Les and their silly song Vindaloo, a lager drinking football fans favourite late night meal.”
“That was Motorhead with Overkill, a song with more endings than the third Lord of The Rings film. So in my day job, I have dealings with the chaps and chappesses at Woods Hardware and they introduced me to Puddles Pity Party and to be honest I have never been the same again.”
13. Puddles Pity Party - Pinball Prison (2:23) WOO #7 14. Dantalian's Chariot - The Madman Running Through The Fields (4:09) HA #7
“That was Dantalion’s Chariot, an English sixties psychedelic band formed by jazz keyboardist Zoot Mooney jumping on the bandwagon and featuring future Police guitarist Andy Summers before he met Sting. Okay from a madman to a mad scene from the film Blue Velvet. As soon as you’ve seen Dean Stockwell miming to Roy Orbinson’s In Dreams to the enthusiastic encouragement of Dennis Hopper, you can never hear the song in the same way again.”
“That was Helen Humes who just Ain’t In The Mood. From one Helen to another, Helen Wheels, a song written about Paul McCartney’s family motor. I recently bought Band On The Run on vinyl here in the US and was surprised to hear this song because it didn’t feature on the UK version. Fun fact, fact fans.”
“That was The Duals with Stick Shift. I do miss a stick shift. While we are on about cars you might have heard me mention last week that I owned a Jaag back in England. Well just by chance, I was listening to The Who and I discovered they had written a song about Jaguar cars. Take it away Peter.”
“Us in England say Bin Man, but The Cramps say Garbage Man and they’d know. Now to my lazily thought out feature, Same Name Different Song. This week the name is Remote Control and first you’ll hear The Clash and then the Beastie Boys, both singing about Remote Controls.”
“There were the Beastie Boys with a different Remote Control to the one The Clash had. Now to Apollo 440 whose Heart Goes Boom.” 23. Apollo 440 - Heart Go Boom (@440 Edit) (3:32) WOO #12 24. Gomez - Hangover (3:28) HA #12
“That was Gomez dealing with a Hangover in a very summery way and since it is summer, time to get your Wicker Man out while listening to Willow’s Song.”
25. Magnet & Paul Giovanni - Willow's Song (4:04) WOO #13 26. Dr John - Black Widow Spider (5:02) HA #13
“Dr John dealing with a Black Widow Spider, fetch my slipper, I’ll get it. You might know that Shirley Bassey had a Goldfinger, but did you know she also had a Fire Down Below?”
27. Shirley Bassey - Fire Down Below (2:49) WOO #14 28. Busta Rhymes - Gimme Some More (Clean Version) (3:10) HA #14
“Sampling Bernard Hermann’s Psycho soundtrack, that was Busta Rhymes with Gimme Some More. Next up, taking their name from Marlon Brando’s gang in The Wild One, here is Black Rebel Motorcycle Club with Red Eyes and Tears.”
29. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Red Eyes and Tears (4:01) WOO #15 30. Sam Cooke - Trouble Blues (3:21) HA #15
“From the great 1963 Sam Cooke album Night Beat that was Trouble Blues. Now from the sublime to the ridiculous, here is Gene Moss in his Dracula guise.”
31. Gene Moss - I Want To Bite Your Hand (2:26) WOO #16 32. Liam Lynch - United States of Whatever (Original Version) (1:32) HA #16
“Short and sweet, that was Liam Lynch living in his United States of Whatever. We are at the end of another Tea Time. This Never Happened to the Other Feller which is what we are going to end with from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, best Bond film, worst Bond actor. Remember before next Saturday, when I hope you'll join me again, check out eburgradio.org and all the great shows that are going on throughout the week. Now for Queen and Country pour that last cuppa from the pot and enjoy. Cheerio!" 33. John Barry - This Never Happened to the Other Feller (5:07) WOO #17
