1 January 2018 New Year’s Eve Show This Week’s Featured Artists: Black on White Affair Formed in 1969, Black on White Affair chose what was initially a descriptive and intentionally (at that time) provocative name. Often referred to as ‘the Seattle band most likely to succeed’, it wasn’t until later on in 1970, after recording with legendary producer Kearney Barton, that their sound and style caught the attention of Curtis Mayfield. Black on White Affair were offered a contract with Mayfield’s ‘Curtom Records’ label . . . a deal they declined, after reportedly taking some rather poor advice from Ike Turner, who encouraged them to hold out for a better offer. Sadly, the band never did get another chance to be formally contracted with any label.
