ITCH SCRATCHING
1. Inspiral Carpets ft John Cooper Clarke - Let You Down (4:28) ITCH #1 2. Colette & The Bandits - A Ladies' Man (2:53) SCRATCHING #1
"Welcome to Saturday Tea Time on Ellensburg Community Radio. I am your radio bloke Paul Dunn and I will be playing you weird and wonderful music for the next two hours. We started off in Manchester with the Inspiral Carpets featuring punk poet John Cooper Clarke, who now appears on the syllabus in British schools. Then we went to Colette and the Bandits, an all female sixties band that precious little is known about. Now we have the Devil's Answer but only Atomic Rooster knows the question."
3. Atomic Rooster - Devil's Answer (3:27) ITCH #2 4. The Tune Rockers - Green Mosquito (2:22) SCRATCHING #2
"That was The Tune Rockers with Green Mosquito. Like all giant pests, they can smell the blood of an Englishman and you know that all that scratching is making me itch. Here is Malcolm McLaren with Buffalo Gals."
5. Malcolm McLaren - Buffalo Gals (3:40) ITCH #3 *SUDDEN FINISH* 6. Sir John Betjeman - A Shropshire Lad (3:09) SCRATCHING #3
"Sir John Betjeman was the UK Poet Laureate from 1972 until his death in 1984. In 1973 he released an album, gloriously titled Betjeman's Banana Blush, and from it you just heard Shropshire Lad, which is about the ghost of English Channel swimmer Captain Matthew Webb. Next up is Linda Perhacs and Paper Mountain Man."
7. Linda Perhacs - Paper Mountain Man (3:14) ITCH #4 8. The Early Years - All Ones And Zeros (4:09) SCRATCHING #4
“That was All Ones and Zeros by a band called The Early Years, which is a good name for a band until you try and find them on the internet. Lookout, according to Opossom there are Blue Meanies about."
"After the Blue Meanies, I had to have a song from the Yellow Submarine soundtrack and there was George's It's All Too Much, borrowing a few lines from fellow Liverpudlian band The Merseys’s song Sorrow. While we are in a yellow mood, here is Yellow Kid with a Lazy Song."
"Time for some mispronunciations. That was Swedish band Dungen with Jakten Genom Skogen. Next up is the band Death with Keep On Knocking. If you want to know more about Death, check out the 2012 documentary A Band Called Death."
"Juanita Nixon asking us to Stop Knockin'. What we have now is a fantastic tune, in my opinion, by the Parquet Courts and their track called Dust."
15. Parquet Courts - Dust (3:58) ITCH #8 16. Clint Eastwood & General Saint - Another One Bites The Dust (3:47) SCRATCHING #8
"That was Another One Bites The Dust, no not that one but a reggae version by Clint Eastwood, no not that one, and General Saint. You know I love a soundtrack song, and here's a good 'un, the Theme from Cleopatra Jones by Joe Simon."
17. Joe Simon - Theme From Cleopatra Jones (3:51) ITCH #9 18. Nancy Sinatra - Lightning's Girl (2:57) SCRATCHING #9
"I've always loved Nancy Sinatra since I heard Boots and Velvet Morning, but Lightning's Girl I only discovered since I've been in America. I have a soft spot for Vegas psychedelia, which I think that is a prime example of, you know the sound, big strings and fuzz guitar all delivered in a tux or evening gown. Now to Bowie and Moonage Daydream from the Ziggy album."
19. David Bowie - Moonage Daydream (4:41) ITCH #10 20. Jonny L - Twenty Degrees (Scratch Perverts Remix) (4:20) SCRATCHING #10
"So that was Jonny L and his track twenty degrees, which the Scratch Perverts remixed. Scratching, must still be thinking of mosquitoes. Time to Jump back with King Curtis."
"It's only right living on this side of the country I should get myself in a Pacific State, which was courtesy of 808 State. Jimmy Hughes is having trouble with his neighbour; let's hear how that pans out."
23. Jimmy Hughes - Neighbor, Neighbor (2:35) ITCH #12 24. Malcolm Middleton - Rainy Day Woman #12 & 35 (5:07) SCRATCHING #12
"C'mon people, that's gotta be up there with great Dylan covers. It was done by Scottish chap Malcolm Middleton who was a founding member of Arab Strap. Do you have your timetable because you'll see it is time to catch the freak Train with Goldfrapp?"
"I don't know about America, but in England World In A Jug was Canned Heat's b-side to On The Road Again and I always loved it, usually playing both sides of my Dad's 45. Are you ready to catch A New Wave with your friends Sleater-Kinney?"
27. Sleater Kinney - A New Wave (3:39) ITCH #14 *SUDDEN END* 28. The Packabeats - The Traitors (2:33) SCRATCHING #14
"A Joe Meek production, that was The Packabeats doing the theme tune to the 1962 spy film The Traitors. Here are the Minutemen with a Political Song for Michael Jackson to Sing."
29. Minutemen - Political Song For Michael Jackson To Sing (1:32) ITCH #15 30. The Creation - Painter Man (2:52) SCRATCHING #15
"That was The Creation with Painter Man. It's the end of another Tea- Time and because 2001 A Space Odyssey was back in the cinemas celebrating its 50th anniversary, we are going to finish with the full majestic glory of Deodato's Also Sprach Zathrustra. Remember before next Saturday, when I hope you'll join me again, check out eburgradio.org and all the great shows that are going on throughout the week. Now pour that last cup of Space Tea from the pot, it's a thing, seriously look it up and enjoy. Cheerio!"
31. Deodato - Also Sprach Zathrustra (2001) (9:03) ITCH #16
