Public Service Broadcasting - Night Mail (3:50) TAKE #3 "With Christmas around the corner, I'm guessing the Night Mail is particularly busy...if it still exists. Richard Berry who wrote Louie Louie, was inspired by the confessional nature of that song. He was also inspired by Chuck Berry's Jamaican inflected tune, Havana Moon." 9. Richard Berry - Louie Louie (2:12) TAKE #5 "After hearing a couple of songs that inspired Richard Berry's Louie Louie, it would have been wrong not to play it and you don't hear the original that often, so there it was. A remarkable song and up there in my top ten with the other 100 or so songs. Let's go to the movies with Lalo Schifrin and his Theme from Enter the Dragon." 13. The Charlatans UK - One to Another (4:32) TAKE #7 "One to Another by Manchester band The Charlatans or as you guys in the US know them, The Charlatans UK, because America already had a sixties band called The Charlatans and here is their biggest song, Codine." 15. The Charlatans - Codine (2:25) STOCK #8 16. A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It? (3:30) TAKE #8 "A Tribe Called Quest sampling both Lou Reed and Ian Dury with Can I Kick It? The Members - Solitary Confinement (5:57) TAKE #9 "Seventies UK punk outfit The Members with their great song about living alone in a bedsit, Solitary Confinement. Off to Nigeria with Ofege and their instrumental Adieu." 19. Ofege - Adieu (4:12) STOCK #10 20. Spiritualized - I Think I'm In Love (3:59) TAKE #10 "Spiritualized and I Think I'm In Love. How about a bit of big band with Gene Krupa, the vocals of Anita O'Day and the trumpet of Roy Eldridge on Let Me Off Uptown." 21. Gene Krupa - Let Me Off Uptown (3:07) STOCK #11 22. The Dirtbombs - Chains of Love (2:21) TAKE #11 "The Dirtbombs covering JJ Barnes song Chains of Love which is from The Dirtbombs fantastic 2001 covers album Ultraglide in Black.
